Ron McCormick

Born 1947, Liverpool

McCormick studied fine art at Liverpool then the Royal Academy in London before moving to photography. In the 1970s he co-founded Half Moon gallery in London, Side Gallery in Newcastle and Ffotogallery in Cardiff. He settled in Newport in 1977 and worked on Ffotogallery’s Valleys project, recording the changing landscape as heavy industry began to fade. He taught with David Hurn at Newport, establishing the Newport Survey that student documentary photographers worked on as part of the course in the 1980s.
