Island Life: Photographs from the Martin Parr Foundation
Robin Friend
Born 1983, London
Friend spent most of his childhood in Melbourne, Australia, and there first became interested in the overlooked places where nature and the urban collide. He studied at University of Plymouth and the Royal College of Art, and now lives in Lewes, East Sussex. He has exhibited widely and in 2018, collaborated with choreographer Wayne McGregor on a dance production for the BBC. The production toldĀ the story of how the national art collection was hidden in a Welsh slate mine for safety during World War II. A new series of work, Blink of an Eye, charts the scourge of knife violence involving young people in London.
