Daniel Meadows

Born Gloucestershire, 1952

Meadows studied at Manchester Polytechnic between 1970 – 73 alongside Martin Parr, Brian Griffin and Peter Fraser. He has spent a lifetime recording British society, working in a collaborative and participatory way to record aspects of ordinary life through photography, interviews, and film making. Between 1973 – 74 he travelled the UK in the Free Photographic Omnibus where he set up free portrait studios around the country. Numerous books on his work have been published such as; Living Like This: Around Britain in the Seventies (1975), Nattering In Paradise – A Word from the Suburbs (1988), National Portraits – Photographs from the 1970s by Daniel Meadows (1997) as well as many more. In 2019 the Bodleian Library in Oxford acquired the Daniel Meadows archive.
