Island Life: Photographs from the Martin Parr Foundation

Dan Wood

Born 1974, Bridgend, South Wales

Wood got into photography young, but became serious about it in the mid-1990s through skateboarding culture, when he bought his first SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera. He attended an evening class but is otherwise self-taught. His work focuses on people and place, sometimes with an element of personal history interwoven. He has prints in collections including the National Museum of Wales, Ffotogallery and the National Library of Wales, and has exhibited extensively in the UK and overseas.  In 2018, he was a winner of the Portrait of Britain prize in the British Journal of Photography.
