Wallace, also known as Glasweegee, grew up in Glasgow, and lives in Shoreditch. He was in the army briefly in the 1980s but other than that, he seems to have managed to keep his private life private. In 2016 he won the inaugural Magnum Photography Award with Harrodsburg, a series of stark snatched images of wealthy shoppers in Chelsea and Knightsbridge. His approach is ethnographic and his style confrontational. Borrowing paparazzi techniques, he uses flashguns and tends to get up very close to his subjects, whether people or dogs, working in themed series.
