Peress began working as a photographer in 1970 after studies at Sciences Po in Paris (the Institute of Political Science). His current project, Hate Thy Brother, looks at similitude and difference and its consequences in ethnic conflicts. Peress’s books include Telex Iran; The Silence: Rwanda; Farewell to Bosnia; The Graves: Srebrenica and Vukovar; A Village Destroyed; and the recently published books on the North of Ireland:  Whatever You Say, Say Nothing and Annals of the North.
